The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey’s asthma management program recognized at The Salvation Army’s 150th Anniversary Celebration

The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, the charitable arm of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, has been honored by The Salvation Army Newark Area Services for its efforts to help children better manage, prevent and overcome the often dangerous symptoms of asthma. At its 150th Anniversary Celebration dinner last week, The Salvation Army paid tribute to the Foundation for its Breathe Easier with Asthma Management (BEAM) initiative. Robert A. Marino, Chairman and CEO of Horizon BCBSNJ and Chairman of the Horizon Foundation, accepted the honor on the foundation's behalf. Funded by a $500,000 foundation grant to the Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey, BEAM is providing asthma education, screening and referral services to 2,500 children ages 5-18, and their caregivers, at club sites in nine New Jersey counties where asthma is prevalent.
