N.J. health insurer donating 500K masks, $160K in food to battle coronavirus

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is donating $2.35 million worth of protective medical equipment and food to help in the state’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The health insurance company will begin delivering 500,000 N95 respirator masks and 81,000 face shields next week for distribution throughout the state. Additional deliveries will be made throughout April, the Newark-based company announced Thursday.

The Company is also donating $100,000 to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey and $60,000 to the Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May, two organizations that are responding to the needs of New Jerseyans suffering from the economic impact of the pandemic.
