Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (BCBSNJ) today re-affirmed its decision to only sell and renew individual and small group plans that comply with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The Obama Administration announced today that health insurance companies could continue to renew older health plans that are not compliant with the ACA.Horizon BCBSNJ’s Director of Public Affairs, Thomas Rubino, issued the following statement:“Late last year, Horizon BCBSNJ announced that after three and a half years of ACA preparation work, it was not feasible to renew individual and small group policies that were not compliant with the Affordable Care Act, as well as sell compliant plans. Additionally, the federal government has required significant changes to non-compliant Basic and Essential health plans that make them much less affordable.“Horizon BCBSNJ will continue to help its members transition to new ACA compliant health plans. We encourage customers to visit HorizonBlue.com and shop for new policies or call
1-800-224-1234 for assistance purchasing a new plan.”
