(December 10, 2018, Newark, NJ) – As the 2019 enrollment period for individual health insurance coverage winds down, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) is ramping up its efforts to assist consumers with signing up for coverage. The enrollment deadline for 2019 coverage is December 15, and Horizon BCBSNJ is accommodating consumers in the final days by extending operating hours at its call center, retail, mall and “Blue to you” van locations.

“Consumers who have yet to enroll in a health plan for 2019 will be able to contact a phone agent or visit mall or retail outlets around New Jersey, right up until the final hours and minutes of the open enrollment period," said Michael J. Considine, Horizon BCBSNJ Vice President of Consumer, Small Group and Mid-Size Markets. “It will be easier and more convenient than ever for consumers to receive help from Horizon with finding a quality plan that fits their needs.”

Consumers are reminded that New Jersey’s new individual mandate takes effect on January 1, which, along with recently-enacted legislation creating a reinsurance program, has created more stability and affordability to New Jersey individual market.

Horizon BCBSNJ will continue a strong marketing effort into the final days of the open enrollment period, featuring digital advertising, social media, direct mail and email campaigns that remind consumers of the deadline and the new state individual mandate in 2019, and reinforce affordability. These efforts augment the final push of Governor Murphy’s campaign to get New Jerseyans coveredget New Jerseyans covered opens a dialog window‌.

Bilingual agents will be available by phone and in-person at in-the-field locations for enrollment.
