Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey announces appointment of new vice president and chief underwriter

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) today announced the appointment of Jill Serin, FSA, to the position of Vice President and Chief Underwriter. Reporting to Senior Vice President for Market Business Units Christopher M. Lepre, Ms. Serin’s appointment becomes effective on Monday, April 25.“In an evolving and dynamic health insurance industry, Horizon increasingly needs strategic expertise in the development of products that respond to the changing needs of our customers,” Lepre said. “With an extensive background in actuarial, underwriting and senior management roles, Jill is a proven leader in developing and pricing competitive products across all segments of the health insurance market.”In her new role, Ms. Serin will have oversight of Horizon BCBSNJ’s Rating and Underwriting, Sales Forecasting, and Contract Administration Departments. Ms. Serin comes to Horizon from Remedy Partners, Inc., where she was Chief Actuary.
