As of May 1, 2014, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children (A.I. duPont Hospital), located in Wilmington, Delaware, is no longer a Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey network hospital for Horizon BCBSNJ members.Beginning May 1, 2014, Horizon BCBSNJ members enrolled in plans with no out-of-network benefits will have no coverage for nonemergency services at A.I. duPont Hospital. As always, in an emergency situation, patients should go immediately to the nearest emergency facility, without worrying about network affiliations, to receive care.Horizon BCBSNJ members enrolled in plans that include out-of-network benefits may continue to use A.I. duPont Hospital on an out-of-network basis. Members should understand that they may incur higher out-of-pocket expenses using an out-of-network facility. Therefore, starting May 1, 2014, these members should use a Horizon BCBSNJ network hospital, instead of A.I. duPont Hospital.A.I. duPont Hospital still has a participation agreement with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware (Highmark Delaware).Members with BlueCard® coverage will still be able to use A.I. duPont Hospital through the hospital’s agreement with Highmark Delaware.You may search for other hospitals participating in the Horizon Hospital Network by using the Doctor & Hospital Finder.As always, in an emergency situation, go immediately to the nearest emergency facility, without worrying about network affiliations, to receive care. If possible, call your doctor before going to the emergency facility.
